Full-Day Programs
The Oppositional & Defiant Child
This is Dr. Sutton's signature program regarding a topic he has been studying for more than 25 years. Working Effectively with the Difficult, Defiant and Noncompliant Student (NEW!!!)
This program is a full-day training that is designed specifically for educators and school support staff. It incorporates current information on defiance and noncompliance, and what has been proven to work best with the student presenting these behaviors. Included here are the program focus, benefits to the participants, needs addressed, intended audience, objectives, description, qualifications of the presenter, credit hours awarded and a program agenda. A new supplement to this information is a "letter" from Dr. Sutton. This program incorporates a professionally prepared program handbook.
The Kid Who Doesn't Care
(The Conduct Disordered Child)
This program targets "The Kid Who Doesn't Care," the youngster who is often in
serious trouble with others, and usually with the law also. Included on this

This is a new full-day program that grew out of the half-day program on teaching youngsters the skills of anger management. It offers new insights and many methods and strategies for intervention.
The Depressed and Anxious Child
This revised program looks at depression and anxiety in children and
adolescents, and offers plenty of support to those working with these particular
youngsters. Included on this page are the program focus, benefits to

"Tell Me ..." Powerful Skills for Interviewing Children and Adolescents
Contains Ethics Credit
This program teaches educators, counselors, social workers, and other child service professionals how to use a structured interview (provided) to obtain critical information from a child regarding that youngster's emotional, behavioral, and adaptive functioning. This program also instructs participants how to interpret the interview and use this information to develop goals and plans for intervention and support. Included on this page are the program focus, benefits to the participants, needs addressed, intended audience, objectives, program description, qualifications of the presenter, credit hours awarded (includes ethics credit), and a program agenda. This program, recently revised, uses a new 32 page workbook that contains reproducible forms to be used over and over again.
Now there's a nationally accredited self-study version of this great program. It has the exact same format and interview protocol, but uses audio CDs along with the materials. Complete a knowledge quiz and receive a certificate for 6 contact hours of training, including 3 contact hours of professional ethics. Half-Day Programs
The ANGRY Child (also
called Anger Management for Kids)
This program focuses on the scope and cause of persistent impulsive and
aggressive behavior. It offers innovative, practical and doable ideas and
strategies for effective intervention. (It will easily fit a 2-3 hour time
slot.) It is appropriate for all child service professionals who must work with
an impulsive and angry youngster.
When the Kid Who Can,
Won't (for teachers)
This is a short program (2 to 3 hours) for educators, which focuses primarily on the issue of noncompliance. Included here are the program focus, participant benefits, intended audience, program objectives, qualifications of the presenter, and an agenda.
This program, focusing on the full range of oppositional and defiant behaviors, discusses current "best practice" ideas and insights for working effectively with this child and the family. The program is especially helpful for those folks who don't work with this child within the classroom setting, although plenty ideas to be shared with teachers regarding compliance are covered.
