Program Focus:

The current research is clear: The key to achieving positive change is emotional in nature, NOT intellectual.
This program presents a model, a process, and strategies for helping youngsters better understand themselves and others. The six deepest "Potholes in the Road" to compliance and achievement are exposed (no big surprise; they're all emotional), with a focus on positive and practical ideas and strategies for either patching the potholes or avoiding them in the first place.

Intended Audience of this Program:

Teachers and school counselors


Program Objectives:

Through this workshop, materials and "hands-on" activities, participants should be able to:

1. GRASP how success is more emotional than intellectual.

2. UTILIZE a variety of ways to initiate classroom affirmations.

3. APPLY two models for teaching youngsters the connection between their needs and their feelings.

4. IMPLEMENT a number of activities for helping youngsters to better understand themselves and others.

5. IDENTIFY the 6 most difficult "Potholes in the Road" to compliance and achievement (including overteaching).

6. PATCH the "Potholes" using six guidelines and over 2 dozen strategies.
